A day later I did some stuff on my machine (that was on ubuntu studio), like: sudo apt-get update, and made a system-wide update with the update manager, and I`ve set up a minecraft 1.6 server. back in the past (before july 1.) I used the anjo Caido launcher for minecraft (since I am not 18 yet and cant make a paypal account) and then the 1.6 update came out and I wanted to update, since the old anjo Caido launcher would`nt work I downloaded the mc open launcher, and guess what, IT WORKED.We don't have full disclosure on the content of this pre-release yet, but one thing has been made clear, there aren't dragons in game just yet! Rename your OLD jar file "minecraft", and you will be able to play the old version again. Please be patient if this does not work the first time.
It is possible to use the launcher to run versions of Minecraft from nearly any era, however some versions are still not included on the launcher, such as Indev, Minecraft 2.0 and any of the Beta 1.9 pre-releases.
I hope in the future, you come up with a great idea, be brave and try and make a living off it then people steal it from you and you end up living in a cardboard box.
For some reason, my Minecraft Launcher is not seeing the Minecraft 1.8 update.
